The Clinic provides a
range of specialist education services for GPs and other health
professionals.
Special Interest Network
(SPIN) SPIN meets monthly and provides a valuable interface
among a broad mix of health professionals from the drug and
alcohol field. Topics and speakers reflect the interests and needs
of the group. SPIN members include GPs, pharmacists, nurses,
counsellors, psychologists and social workers.
SPIN Journal Club SPIN
Journal Club meets every second month and provides the opportunity
for discussion of new developments and research in the drug and
alcohol field.
Mentoring Program for
GPs Mentoring is available to GPs wishing to increase
their confidence and competence in managing drug and alcohol
patients and/or wishing to undertake training in methadone and other
alternative pharmacotherapies.
Program for Medical
Students Final year students from Monash University
undertaking their psychiatry rotation at the Alfred Hospital and
Monash Medical Centre participate in a drug and alcohol training
program at the clinic.
Pharmacotherapy Training Program for
Opioid Dependence Southcity Clinic and JUCET (the joint centre for education
and training in general practice) currently hold the statewide contract
for the pharmacotherapy training program for opioid dependence
incorporating the methadone/buprenorphine prescribers
workshop.
