Referrals to Southcity
Clinic are made through your GP or another health care professional
working in the alcohol and other drug field
If you are unsure
as to the appropriateness of your referral ask your GP or other
health care professional to contact the clinic and consult with a
member of the clinic staff.
The assessment process has two components:
- an interview with one of the counselling clinicians at the
clinic
&
- a medical assessment with one of the alcohol and other drug
medical specialists
Where possible clinic staff will endeavour to arrange these two
appointments on the same day, however due to time constraints, this
is not always possible. In some situations the medical appointment
will be the day after the initial assessment.
A referral letter needs to be provided to the clinic either
before, or at the start of the assessment interview.
